Former teacher and long time volunteer recognised as Citizen Of The Year

Former primary school teacher and long-time Warrnambool volunteer Rosemary Isaac has been honoured with this year’s Warrnambool Citizen of the Year award.

Ms Isaac has been involved in a range of community organisations over several years including the Warrnambool Primary School, Warrnambool Family History Group, Warrnambool and District Historical Society, Cheese World Museum and the South West Branch of the Embroiders Guild of Victoria.

“There are some very illustrious people who have won before me,” she said.

“Most of my work is done in teams, so it’s not just me, but I hope this might bring a bit of notice to all of the groups.”

“I’ve been retired for 19 years and volunteering is a good way to make links and meet people. I’ve got lasting friendships out of it.”
