Warrnambool Council Seeking To Increase Rates.
Warrnambool City Council is looking to increase council rates above the 2.25 percent cap imposed by the State Government.
At last night's council meeting council voted 5 to 1 to submit an application to the Essential services commission for an increase for the next three years.
Councillor Sue Cassidy says council is looking to increase it's rates to 4.5 percent ... but says they will seek community feedback before a final decision is made.
Mrs Cassidy says council can not afford to keep going they way they are with increased costs and rates capped at 2.25 percent.
She says the city infrastructure such as council buildings, roads and footpaths miss out on upgrades because of the lack of funding.
She says the community will be consulted on this.
