Green Warrnambool Plan Impresses
Warrnambool City Council’s work tackling climate change has been recognised on the national stage, with the council’s Green Warrnambool Plan selected as a finalist in the 2019 Cities Power Partnership Awards.
Green Warrnambool sets a new vision for the city: that Warrnambool will be the most sustainable regional city in Australia. The plan outlines actions that will improve sustainability performance for Council and the city.
Green Warrnambool was selected from a competitive field of entries from councils across Australia for the national awards, which recognise outstanding achievement by local governments in the fields of renewable energy, sustainable transport, energy efficiency, community engagement and climate advocacy.
Warrnambool Mayor Tony Herbert said that the nomination was recognition of Council’s commitment to show leadership on one of the most important issues facing society today.
