It's the eve of the 104th edition of the second oldest single day cycling event in the world, with the Powercor Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic back bigger than ever.

Two new events have joined the weekend's festivities, with both the Royal Bikes Port Cambell to Warrnambool Handicap and Sunday's Lady bay Resort Middle Island Criterium expected to draw big crowds.

Event Director Karin Jones, says they have received a large number of entries for all events.

"For the Melbourne to Warrnambool race we have 220 riders, we have 110 in the Handicap race at Port Cambell and 150 for the Sunday Criterium with a record number of 85 in the mens elite race"

Jones says she is also excited for the events that will run alongside the criterium down at viaduct road on Sunday.

"The local running club are doing some of their races there, and we have five of the football netball clubs coming together for a dash for cash, with the fastest of their mens and womens players".

More information about the event can be found on the Classic's Website, with a full call of the race on 94.5 3YBFM tomorrow.
