Voters Are Warned Of Changes To Voting Services Since Last Federal Election

Voters across the Wannon division are being asked to plan where they will be casting their vote in the upcoming federal election.

The State Manager for Victoria, Steve Kennedy, says that there have been many changes to voting services since the last federal election.

The changes include some polling places that were available in 2016 are now no longer available for the upcoming election on May 18.

“Each election there are changes to polling services – occasionally services increase in certain geographical areas and at times decrease in others,”

“This is a careful election planning process with previous voting, population and travel trends analysed to determine voting services."

Kennedy went on to say that despite the decreases in voting services in some places, Australians are lucky to have a range of voting options available which some democracies across the world do not have the same access to.

Voters are encouraged to visit the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) website at www.aec.gov.au or call the AEC on 13 23 26 to familiarise themselves with the voter services available for the 2019 federal election.
