It capped off a busy long weekend on the roads for local police, with over 2000 preliminary breath tests conducted as part of the five day operation.

More than 200 offences were recorded overall across the district, including 4 impaired drivers and a large number of speeding motorists.

Senior Sergeant Shane Keogh, says these types of operations, are conducted to try and reduce road trauma across the entire state.

"Sadly we've had 5 deaths on our roads across the state, we aim for zero, it just makes a whole lot of sadness around for those families into the future" he said.

"Interestingly the most predominant offence was speeding, accounting for nearly 50% of overall offences".
