South West Trio Earn AFL Combine Call Up

Eight players from the Greater Western Victoria Rebels have been selected to attend the 2021 NAB AFL National Draft Combine, which is the most of any club within Australia.

A local contingent will head for the combine in late September, including Jamieson Ballantyne (Portland Tigers), Hamish Sinnott (Camperdown) and Josh Rentsch (Penshurst).

GWV Rebels Regional Talent Lead Damian Ross, said the club was proud to have had such a strong representation, after a difficult 18 months.

The combine is a great reward for effort for the players, families, local clubs and schools, giving each boy the opportunity to showcase their physical talents and personalities to AFL Clubs.

There have been 90 players included at this stage for the Combine this year, although another 30 will be added across the country to be involved in athletic testing days to be staged at state-based events around Australia.

Being invited to the draft combine does not guarantee that players will be selected in the National Draft, but certainly helps their chances.
