Woman Critical

A single car accident at Port Fairy in the early hours of Saturday morning resulted in a woman being airlifted to Melbourne in a critical condition.

Police say the male driver lost control of the car going around a sweeping bend on the Princes Highway West of Port Fairy and hit a power pole which snapped in half.

Ambulance Victoria's Paul Bentley says the female passenger in her 30s was flown to Melbourne in a critical condition and the male driver was taken to the Warrnambool hospital by road ambulance.

The HEMS 4 Helicopter along with Port Fairy S.E.S., Police, and ambulance all attended the accident which happened around 3 Saturday morning.

No other vehicle was involved in the accident and police are still investigating what actually caused the car to leave the road.
