Nominations open for the 2022 Warrnambool Australia Day Awards

Nominations for the 2022 Warrnambool Australia Day Awards are now open, with locals having just over a month to put forward a worthy entrant.

Categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (aged 16-30), Community Event of the Year and Local Achiever.

Warrnambool Mayor Cr Vicki Jellie (herself a former citizen of the year), said that while awards are appreciated by the recipients, they are also an opportunity for the broader community to learn more about their fellow citizens.

“People don’t do the things that they do because they are looking for recognition, they do them because they’re passionate and because they care,” she said.

“So I’d invite everyone to stop for a moment, and think about someone you know whose community spirit and selfless actions make you feel proud"

“You know what a great job they’re doing, so please take a few minutes to submit a nomination so that as a city, we can celebrate their achievements together.”
