Warrnambool Event Returns After COVID Enforced Break

Warrnambool's Mother's Day Classic is returning after a COVID-enforced break in 2020, as participants get set to either walk or run the 3km course at Lake, on Sunday May 9.

Committee member Jeff Hintum says this year participants will need to scan a QR code prior to starting, and there won't be the usual MC, music, marquees, coffee van, fruit or water supply or raffles due to COVID restrictions.

Participants will also be required to pre register, with on the day registrations unfortunately not permitted.

Three timeslots are available, starting from 9am, 9.30am or 10am with the course starting from the carnival site next to the Main Beach kiosk.

Mr Hintum says there is a limit of 125 participants for each time slot, and although the event will be smaller in size and more informal, it would remain big on community spirit.

"The event is a great way to acknowledge those affected by breast cancer and remember those who have passed away," he said.

Mr Hintum thanked the Warrnambool community and sponsors for their continued support.
