A WANTED Portland man, who allegedly went on a crime spree continuously evading police, has been captured at his home this morning.

Damien Kiel, aged in his 20s, was arrested at a home in Pile Crt in Portland this morning, ending a two day man hunt that started in Terang on Tuesday.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Raven, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, was in Portland for the arrest, stating the now captured fugitive was at an address of interest.

“We’ve arrested a man at an address in Pile Court, and he is now at the Portland police station pending interviews,” Mr Raven said.

“We found him at the address we attended, which we were hoping he was going to be, as he was previously of that address.

“We went to the house this morning, he’s tried to run out the back door, but he was surrounded by police and from there he was arrested.”

Sgt Raven praised the work of local police, who worked tirelessly to find the wanted man.

“It was a great effort by the police on the ground, the local knowledge of the Portland detectives helped find the offender.”

Police from Warrnambool, Portland, Hamilton and other surrounding areas were in pursuit after the maroon Magna they believed he was driving, was found at a residential address in Portland yesterday afternoon.

The accused is linked to allegedly, a plethora of crimes across the state’s south-west over the past 48 hours.
