Feedback Sought On Designs For 12 Apostles Trail

The Corangamite Shire Council has asked for community feedback, on key aspects of the designs.

The trail has been 12 years in the making, with the $6.1 million dollar project nearing reality, after a recent commitment of funding from the State Government.

The proposed trail route alignment between Timboon and Port Campbell is unchanged from that endorsed by Council following extensive community and stakeholders consultation in 2013.

Stage one of the trail will meet the wishes of Timboon and Port Campbell residents who listed safe cycling and walking paths among the top priorities in their community plans.

The Timboon to Port Campbell leg will provide 20 km of high-quality, off-road cycling and walking path joining the Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail to the heart of Port Campbell.

It will provide more recreation and social opportunities and be a community asset residents can be proud of.

The trail will also contribute to growth in jobs and skills and business opportunities.

The Trail aims to attract a new tourism market in addition to the day trippers who turn back at the Twelve Apostles and miss out on what the hinterland has to offer.
