Draft plans released for Cobden facelift

Cobden residents are being asked to comment on concepts developed for the town’s rejuvenation project.

Corangamite Shire Chief Executive Officer Andrew Mason said residents could see the concept plans and leave their comments on Council’s website.

“The concept was developed from ideas and priorities raised in the surveys with the Cobden community earlier in the year,” Mr Mason said.

“Earlier this year we invited community members to contribute their ideas as to what should be included in the project and they came up with 31 ideas"

"These were given a rough costing and we went back to the community with a survey in May, there were about 60 responses with varying opinions on the project elements and the concept plan has sought to find the right balance of those opinions".

Mr Mason said they hoped to get a good response from the people who use the town centre so the end result reflects their needs.

“The plans will be available for comment over the next four weeks" he said.

After community members have shared their feedback, detailed designs will be finalised and tenders sought for the work, with construction expected to happen early next year.”

Mr Mason added that the road surface was a VicRoads responsibility and was being addressed separately from this project.

Submissions close at noon on Friday 6 November.
