Local SES Hosted A Multi-Agency Flood Exercise Over The Weekend

Over the weekend, Victoria State Emergency Service were joined by members of various agencies as a part of flood exercises in Port Fairy.

The group consisted of members from Victoria Police, Country Fire Authority, Moyne Shire Council, Department of Health and Human Services, Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Authority and Wannon Water.

The day consisted of various training drills, demonstrations and flood scenarios with the purpose

VICSES South West Regional Manager Alistair Drayton says such exercises are a great way for the community to see how various agencies come together in the event of an emergency,

"Flooding occurs so infrequently, and given that recent flood events in Port Fairy have been very small with little damages, we thought it was important to undertake a flood training exercise to raise awareness of the flood risks, to build flood preparedness, and ultimately community resilience”
