Warrnambool beach access impacted by seas
High seas have caused extensive erosion along Warrnambool's main beach over the past few weeks.
The Warrnambool City Council has been forced to close steps leading down to the main beach at a number of access points including the popular McGennans car park.
Warrnambool council's Scott Kavanagh says there have been very high tides that have impacted the Lady Bay area.
The council has been monitoring the main beach area on a daily basis and has closed down the steps to the beach as they become unsafe.
He says they hope to start repairing the wooden steps and the support footings as soon as the weather permits.
People using the beach need to look for an alternative access point to the beach if they come across steps that are closed.
Mr Kavanagh says it's not safe to climb over barriers and try and get down steps that have been damaged.
