The Legislative Council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee is investigating the effectiveness of legislation and other measures to prevent and deter activities by unauthorised persons on agricultural and associated industries.

This includes an examination of the type and prevalence of unauthorised activity on Victorian farms and related industries and looking at ways of improving animal welfare outcomes.

The Warrnambool hearing will be on Tuesday 17 September at the Lighthouse Theatre commencing at 10:00 am and members of the public and media are welcome to attend.

The public hearing in Warrnambool is part of a series of hearings for the inquiry, which has received more than 490 submissions. Hearings have been conducted in Bairnsdale, Warragul and Melbourne. Additional hearings are scheduled for Horsham the next day and Wangaratta in October.

The schedule for the hearings and submissions received are available from the Committee’s website.
