A surfing accident has led to man being flown to Melbourne
A 72-year-old man has been injured following a wind surfing accident in Port Fairy today.
The Air Ambulance helicopter was called to Port Fairy’s Belfast Lough at around 1.20pm, after reports a man had sustained serious neck injuries.
He was helped ashore by a fellow wind surfer, before a passer-by phoned 000 requesting police and ambulance.
According to Police, three road ambulance crews assisted the Air Ambulance. The man was stabilised and flown to the Alfred with suspected spinal injuries.
Police say the accident was caused by a strong gust of wind.
